The ring is made of platinum at the front, with the band crafted in yellow gold and a subtle rose gold tint. The rare Iolite gemstone has been authenticated and displays a very strong, expressive dark blue-violet color. It is surrounded by genuine old-cut diamonds.
 
The name "Iolite" is derived from the Greek word “ios,” meaning violet. Iolite gemstones are found in Norway, Sri Lanka, India, as well as parts of Africa and South America. Historically, the Vikings used iolite gemstones as navigational instruments because of their unique ability to polarize light.
